Evangeline in Concert at the Festival of Arts

What a beautiful day it was to spend the afternoon in picturesque Laguna Beach.
To be honest, as many years of living in Southern California, I admit I have never been to 'one of the nation's oldest and most highly acclaimed juried fine art shows, the Laguna Beach Festival of Arts,' so today, I had my chance. But it wasn't the breathtaking showcase of arts and artists I came to see, but rather, I came to watch a live artist performance instead.
Today was the premiere of Evangeline, aka Vangie, who for many years that I have known her, never ceases to amaze me with her mesmerizing voice. She is known in the Los Angeles music industry as a "prominent and sought after singer." Her voice can be heard on multiple TV shows, movies, video games, other artist's CDs and more.
Concert-goers were in for a special treat not only with Vangie's mighty vocals, but the concert also featured her children: daughters Lexi and Emma as backup vocals (and respective soloists, too); along with her other children, son Levi, and daughter Aria who had special guest performances in the show. The young Gunns are powerhouse-vocalists and entertainers (just like their Mama), with the youngest, Aria, only 13-years-old.
The band included: Chris Barron (keyboard), Christian Hernandez (lead guitar), Austin Elrod (drums), Tim Jaquette (bass), and Brian Clancey (saxophones) -- all with impressive resumes as well.
Vocals: Lexi Gunn, Emma Gunn, Antoinette Murray, and Troy Mitchell, with special appearances by Levi and Aria Gunn.
The music performed was a mix of the '70s, '80s, '90s and today's Jazz, R&B, and Pop, along with a sultry rendition of 'All The Things You Are' by Jerome Kern (made popular by Tony Bennett). If you're a big fan of Chaka Khan (like this fangirl), you will love Vangie's 'Through The Fire' cover and 'Ain't That Peculiar' (featuring Troy).
The debut concert concluded with Michael McDonald's 'Taking It To The Streets' which was prophetic in some sense as this group, Evangeline will be doing just that very very soon -- taking it to the streets. You'll want to catch them in a city near you!
